Carved ruby ring engagement ring

A really nice recent engagement ring commission. The unusual yellow gold and ruby engagement ring was carved by hand. It combines 18-carat yellow gold with a beautiful rose-red ruby. The asymmetric ruby was chosen by our customer and formed the starting point for the design. We worked with her on ideas for the ring and sketched options for a sculptural form which would complement the stone's shape. Once the design was agreed the ring was hand carved in wax, cast in 18 carat yellow gold and then given a brushed satin finish to show off the contours.
